HowTo make GPG Keys under Mac OS X

You can install the command line tools from gnupg.org. Refer to my Linux GPG guide for instructions on how to use the command line version.

There are some nice graphical tools for using GPG encryption under OS X. These tools can be found individually at macgpg.sourceforge.net. You will find the tools under the "Files" section of this web page. The most useful tools in my opinion are:

Gnu Privacy Gaurd (GPG main application, contains encrytion/decrytion engine)
GPGKeys (Tools for managing your Keys)
GPGDropThing (Tool for encrypting/decrypting text graphically)

Steps:

1. Install the 3 tools above

2. Make your Key - Use GPGKeys, the "Generate" command under the "Key" menu.

3. Encrypt your text - Fire up GPGDropThing, type test into the window. Use the "Encrypt" command the in "GPG" menu. Pop-Up dialog will ask you which Key to use. The encrypted test will now appear in the window. You can drag it to a text file and save it.
