LiveSearch

LiveSearch is a search which returns results as the user types. Results are presented at the user's current location in the user interface, without the need to navigate through pages of results or even press a "Search" button.

This particular incarnation of LiveSearch was an extension for Mozilla Firefox, which at the time I programmed it was an item on Mozilla's wishlist for Google's Summer of Code. It worked as a sidebar in the browser, similar to the "History" tool bundled with Firefox. It was quite popular with friends and family, as it would retrieve up to 10 results from Google (the only search engine I programmed into the first version, which was more of a proof-of-concept mockup) and display them as you typed your query, without requiring you to press more buttons or navigate result pages.

However, lingering doubts about the legality/ethicality of the extension, at least as originally programmed, bothered me, and since Mozilla has updated Firefox past the hard-programmed version-compatibility number in the extension, I gratefully let LiveSearch die an easy death.
