ENGR 131: Midterm Grades (Take 2)

Midterm Grades (Take 2)

Midterm grades (after Midterm Exam #2) were computed using Specifically, weightings are currently in Blackboard as follows:
MT1 &  MT2: 27.5% each
PQ1 -- PQ5: 2% each
LA0 (half): 0.5%
LA1 - LA10: 0.95% each
PS0 -- PS6: 2.27% each
PS7 (200) : 4.57%
PS8 -- PS9: 2.27% each
At this point in the semester, the letter-grade distribution/percentage (and cumulatives) were as follows [N=128 students who took Midterm Exam #2]:
A (90-99): 49/38% ( 49/ 38%)

B (80-89): 44/34% ( 93/ 73%)

C (70-79): 23/18% (116/ 91%)

D (60-69):  7/ 5% (123/ 96%)

F (00-59):  5/ 4% (128/100%)

GPA = (49*4+44*3+23*2+7*1+5*0)/128 = 2.98

Thus, almost 40% of the class is doing A work; almost three-quarters are doing A or B work; more than 90% are doing C or better work.

The distribution of numerical scores is:

9: 9998887777765555444444443333333322222221111000000
8: 99999998888888877777666666555444443333322000
7: 98888877775444433222000
6: 8844410
5: 65522

* MEDIAN = 87
* Thus, there are 3 99's, 3 98's, ...
